Spring Days and Easter Ways: What’s Happening Across Filey & Hunmanby This Easter

As the first signs of spring brighten our coast and the winds soften just a little, Easter begins to flutter into Filey, Hunmanby and the surrounding villages. It’s that lovely time of year when families head outdoors again, community halls open their doors a little wider, and lambs, crafts, cakes and colour all seem to appear at once.

From trails and treasure hunts to art, animals and local traditions, here’s your guide to the gentle joys of Easter on the Yorkshire coast.

Wold Newton’s Easter Egg Trail

Spring in Wold Newton always comes with a sense of adventure, and this year’s Easter Egg Trail invites families to wander through the village searching for hidden cards. Trail forms can be collected from All Saints’ Church, and once you’ve found the full set, little treasure‑seekers can swap them for an Easter egg during the Activity Afternoon on Thursday 2nd April, 2–3.30pm. It’s a lovely, low‑pressure way to start the holiday and a sweet reason to stretch your legs after winter.

A Big Day Out at The Plough Inn, Lebberston – Saturday 28th March

Lebberston goes all‑out this Easter with The Plough Inn’s family fun day, which packs magic shows, reptile encounters, carnival games, craft stalls and live music into one lively day between 11am and 6pm. With food stalls, an outdoor bar and free entry, it’s the sort of event you can simply drop into and stay as long as you like.

Muston Farm Stall’s Easter Lambing Week – From Saturday 28th March

Spring wouldn’t be spring without lambs, and Muston Farm Stall is opening its gates daily from 10am–4pm, giving families the chance to meet the friendliest of this season’s new arrivals. With £5 milkshakes and treats from The Moody Cow, plus free parking and no booking required, it’s an easy, relaxed day out that feels wonderfully local.

Filey Community Easter Event – Sunday 29th March

The Evron Centre will be buzzing from 10am–1pm with its cheerful community Easter event featuring Filey Police, Filey Lions, Sea Cadets, reptile rescue, balloon art, tombola and homemade cakes. A proper community gathering — bustling, friendly and full of familiar faces.

Creativity at Filey Library – 30th March to 9th April

For gentler days or rainy mornings, Filey Library is offering a varied programme of crafts, colouring, story sessions, nature walks, ALS Family Fun and planting activities throughout the school holidays. A warm and calming space for families to enjoy time together.

Art on the Coast – Filey Art Society Exhibition, 3rd–5th April

Also at the Evron Centre, the Filey Art Society’s Easter Exhibition showcases an inspiring mix of local artwork, cards and handmade creations from 10am–4pm over the Easter weekend. With refreshments available, it’s a slow, thoughtful stop amidst the busier festivities.

Filey Zoo Easter Trail – 3rd to 6th April

Filey Zoo’s riddle‑based treasure hunt runs throughout Easter weekend, turning the park into a playful puzzle for families as they explore the animals and gardens. Perfect for curious little minds (and adults who love a challenge too).

RNLI Easter Eggstravaganza – Good Friday, 3rd April

Good Friday brings one of the town’s most beloved traditions — the RNLI Easter Eggstravaganza. For £1 a turn, visitors try their luck at the lifeboat station, hoping to win an egg while supporting the crew who watch over our coastline year-round. It’s simple, heartfelt and always well supported; a reminder of how deeply the RNLI is rooted in Filey life.

Elsie’s Easter Egg Hunt, Hunmanby – 4th to 6th April

Elsie’s Easter Egg Hunt in Hunmanby

From Saturday 4th to Monday 6th April, Hunmanby hosts Elsie’s Easter Egg Hunt, a treasured community tradition held in her memory. Stalls, tombolas, delicious bakes and the welcoming Spring Café at All Saints’ Church all help create an atmosphere that is both uplifting and gentle. It’s one of those events where people linger — chatting, remembering, celebrating together.

The Yorkshire Coast Easter Special Train

Saturday 4th April brings a little railway magic as the Easter Bunny boards the Hull–Scarborough service. Children light up as the train glides into Hunmanby at 12:20 and Filey at 12:27 — a moment that feels unexpected and joyful, turning an ordinary platform stop into a memory‑making moment. It’s a lovely surprise for families travelling or simply waiting to wave.

Easter at Humble Bee Farm

Humble Bee Farm offers a whole weekend of springtime experiences — lambing, a Sheep Trail, visits from the Easter Bunny, egg hunts and calm, inclusive SEN‑friendly sessions. It has that peaceful quality you get only in the countryside: wide skies, fresh air, and time to enjoy simple moments together. It’s a gentle escape from the busier Easter events.

Filey Museum Soft Reopening

From Easter weekend, Filey Museum begins its soft reopening, opening two rooms filled with Filey Dragon displays, interactive themed activities and the launch of a brand‑new Memory Wall. With free admission (during this time, donations welcome), it offers residents and visitors a meaningful way to step back into Filey’s story — the small details, the local faces, the deeply rooted traditions. Read more in the April magazine.

Ta Da’nce Easter Fun Clubs

Running from 7th–10th April across Filey and Eastfield, Ta Da’nce fills the holidays with movement, colour and creativity. Children can dive into dance sessions, crafts, games, food activities, picnics and aerial hoop — a full mix of energy and imagination that keeps the holiday feeling bright and busy right until the end.

Easter across Filey and Hunmanby is a season stitched together by small moments of joy — painted eggs on church tables, toddlers giggling at lambs, the hum of a community hall, the excitement of spotting the Easter Bunny on a train platform. It’s a time that blends tradition with new experiences, and every event — big or small — reflects the warmth of the people who make this place feel like home.

Wherever your days take you this Easter, may they be filled with connection, curiosity, fresh air and those quiet seaside moments that remind us why this corner of the coast is so special.
