Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to follow one set pattern.  Around Filey and the surrounding villages, there are several local options this year, ranging from unhurried daytime meals to evening dining, as well as a social event for those looking to do something a little different.

Wrangham House, in the centre of Hunmanby, is offering a Valentine’s two-course lunch or dinner at its Number Ten Tearooms on Saturday 14 February.  Set within a Georgian country house, the tearooms look out onto the gardens and provide a calm setting that suits both daytime dining and an early evening meal.  The focus is on seasonal food prepared on site, with two courses priced at £30 per person.  Booking is recommended.  Wrangham House is at 10 Stonegate, Hunmanby.

In Flixton, Wolds Restaurant at Orchard Lodge is serving a Valentine’s set menu shaped by seasonal and locally sourced ingredients.  The evening menu moves through several courses, beginning with a glass of Passion Fruit Royale and finishing with dessert or cheese, with dishes reflecting both the surrounding countryside and the nearby coast.  Priced at £65 per person, this is a longer, more structured meal and booking is essential.  Orchard Lodge is on North Street, Flixton.

On Murray Street in Filey, Bruschetta will be offering a Valentine’s menu from 12pm on Saturday 14 February.  Owner Omar has put together an authentic Italian menu at affordable prices, served in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.  For those visiting earlier in the day, the usual menu will also be available alongside the Valentine’s dishes.  Booking is essential.

Also in Filey, The Egg & Spoon is hosting a Valentine’s steak night on Saturday 14 February.  Known locally for its friendly atmosphere and straightforward approach, it offers a familiar setting for couples who prefer well-cooked favourites and an easy-going evening.  Booking is required.

If some Valentine’s Day spice is more up your street, Fadó and Tide have the perfect treat for you.  Share an Irish spice bag and a pint or signature cocktail whilst soaking up the live music.  You can find Fadó & Tide on Murray Street, Filey.

Later in the evening, The Belle Vue in Filey is offering a different take on Valentine’s Night with a Traffic Light Adults School Disco, starting at 9pm.  Guests are invited to wear a red, orange or green accessory or outfit to reflect their relationship status, with DJ Niles playing throughout the night.  The event is open to couples, singles and groups of friends.
