Special 'early doors' gig with the Jake Leg Jug Band

Saturday 23rd July Special 'early doors' gig with the Jake Leg Jug Band at the Old Parcel Office, Scarborough for 175th Anniversary of the opening of the Hull to Scarborough line

Chris Lee who organises live music events in Filey and Scarborough has kindly organised a special event - The Jake Leg Jug Band for the 175th Anniversary of the opening of the Hull to Scarborough railway line at the Old Parcels Office next to Platform 1 at Scarborough station. The event has been timed to start and finish to enable people to travel to and from the event by bus and train from the Yorkshire coast with an 'early doors' start of 7pm and a finish in time for the last bus and train service. .

Said Chris Lee 'Really thrilled to have this great band to play in Scarborough at the Old Parcels Office, they played Filey Americana Festival last year and went down really well.

Specialising in tunes from the 1920's and 30's they are popular at Peaky Blinders tribute shows and are all accomplished musicians including Luke Ward an award winning harmonica player.

They jumped at the chance to play at a venue steeped in railway history.'

The gig will finish at 9pm in time for the last train home to stations to Hull via Filey and Bridlington at 9.13pm and the last EYMS bus service to Bridlington serving the holiday camps at 9.40pm. As an added incentive to use public transport to the event, Chris has kindly offered a £4 reduction on the £14 admission price for people who travel to see the Jake Leg Jug Band by bus or train. Tickets are now available from Record Revival in Scarborough and Chris Lee at christopherlee218@yahoo.co.uk.

Said Nick Harvey from Friends of Hunmanby Railway Station 'It is great of Chris to put this event on, the arrival of the railways in 1847 on the Yorkshire Coast created the Victorian seaside resorts of Scarborough, Filey and Whitby. This will be the first time a special live music event has been timed to match the recently improved later evening public transport services along the Yorkshire Coast, if it proves successful it would be great to see if it could become a regular event. The East Yorkshire bus service is a great link to the holiday camps, the Yorkshire Wolds Coast Railway Line offers a good service all the way back to Hull via Filey, Hunmanby, Bempton, Bridlington Driffield and Beverley'
